F.A.Q
Shou Sugi Ban, also known as Charred Timber, is a traditional Japanese technique for preserving wood by charring its surface. This process creates a protective carbon layer that enhances the wood’s durability, resistance to moisture, insects, and fire, and gives it a unique, aesthetically appealing finish.
We primarily use high-quality Larch wood, sourced from Sweden and Russia, as well as Accoya. Larch is known for its durability and beautiful grain, making it an excellent choice for both interior and exterior applications.
Accoya is a remarkable, high-performance wood that has been modified through a proprietary acetylation process. This process enhances the wood’s properties, resulting in outstanding dimensional stability, durability, and resistance to rot and insect damage. Accoya’s exceptional performance makes it ideal for a wide range of applications, including windows, doors, cladding, decking, and more. Furthermore, Accoya is sourced from sustainable forests and is fully recyclable, offering an environmentally friendly option without compromising on quality or aesthetics.
By incorporating both Larch and Accoya, we ensure that our products meet the highest standards of performance and sustainability, providing our customers with beautiful, long-lasting solutions for any project.
In addition to the positive Climate impact, there are a number of incentives and indirect benefits, depending on the project and application. Please feel free to reach out to us to discuss what support is available for your scheme.
